Mechanical Design
The mechanical design department at PPA can deliver all aspects of HVAC design to a world class standard. We are experts in the field of hyperscale Data Centre design, in particular highly efficient cooling systems for mission critical applications, PUE calculations, air distribution and heating systems. Our mechanical engineers have a wealth of experience delivering mechanical system design for the worlds’ biggest global corporations, blue chip companies and financial institutions. Whatever your Data Centre performance requirements, in any climate, PPA can provide a specialist and tailored design to suit your project. We are also highly experienced in the Commercial, Leisure and Residential markets, providing HVAC design for a variety of building types and clients, with a particular focus on renewable technology.
Over recent years PPA have gained significance presence on the DC market. We understand that failures and down time of a critical facility cannot be tolerated and therefore at PPA we can offer our data center clients highly engineered solutions with a required level of resilience and a minimal down time.
Our data center department has wealth of experience in design of medium to hyper scale data centers for giant IT clients as well as Co -Location providers. We possess specialist knowledge in design of liquid and whole-air cooling systems, ventilation, heat recovery, fuel systems, heating, PUE calculations, SPOF analyses and BMS/BAS controls. Our international teams can provide a full support from feasibility studies to the final installation wherever is a site located worldwide and in different climates. Our designs ensure installation has high energy performance and is cost-effective.
PPA has extensive expertise in HVAC design of hotels, leisure centers, offices, and high-end residential buildings. We always set targets for high energy efficiency, low carbon emission and good indoor air quality. Thus the end users benefit from improved comfort and a healthy indoor environment.
Electrical Design
The electrical design department at PPA can deliver all aspects of electrical design to a world class standard. We are experts in the design of data centres, for all sizes and types, working closely with our mechanical engineers to produce highly efficient projects with low PUEs. Our electrical engineers have a history of delivering mission critical buildings for the world’s biggest global companies, blue chip companies and financial institutions, to ensure continuity of service. Projects have been delivered across a number of regions and PPA has experience with working to varying international and national standards.
Public Health Design
The Public Health design department at PPA can deliver all aspects of Public Health system design to the highest of standards. We are experts in the design of all types residential, commercial and mission critical projects, for all sizes and types, working closely with our mechanical and electrical engineers to produce highly efficient projects . The Public Health department have a history of delivering projects for the world’s biggest global companies, blue chip companies and financial institutions, to ensure continuity of service. Projects have been delivered across a number of regions and PPA has experience with working to varying international and national standards.
Full BIM Co-ordination
BIM (Building Information Modelling) is an intelligent 3D model-based process that gives architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) professionals the insight and tools to more efficiently plan, design, construct and manage buildings and infrastructure, we utilise industry leading software such as REVIT to carry out our 3D modelling and BIM creation in-house.
Computational Fluid Dynamics
PPa can create a 3D virtual environment CFD model where we are able to analyse many items from DataCentre airflow, temperature profiling, wind analysis, building optimisation including natural ventilation plus many other topics. This can be either steady state analysis with failure scenarios through to dynamic model to allow us to consider rate of rise calculations.
Electrical Network Analysis
We maintain the most up to date electrical network analysis software from Amtech to ETAP to provide full calculations and reporting from cable sizing to full discrimination and network protection studies. Encompassing the necessary British Standards such as BS7671 we ensure our clients are able to gain the correct design solution based on the necessary Standards and regulations.
Architectural Management
Our in-house architect, who also has a Master of Engineering, has worked on more than 30 projects in the UK and abroad and has experience in the full range of architecture programs and construction stages (from Master planning to finalising details on site with contractors).
During design and construction, he ensures that the project is aligned with the client’s brief and is compliant with the local and national regulations.
His skills also contribute to PPA’s excellence at working collaboratively with the client’s architects or sub-contracted architects and also with engineers from other fields.
More specifically, this allows us to:
• lead and manage projects while ensuring that both the design and technical aspects are equally addressed.
• understand and be involved in the architectural design process from the onset. This futureproofs the design and reduces abortive work.

Structural Design

Structural services include, pre-planning advice, appraisal of existing structures, due-diligence reporting, and the repair and alteration of historic buildings, with road, drainage design and flood risk assessments.

Architectural Design

Fire Safety Design

Fire Engineering Services include fire engineering, fire protection, fire detection and fire asset management.

Acoustic

Acoustic Services include the production of full acoustic modelling, atmospheric noise propagation mapping, environmental impact assessment, noise action plans, industrial noise reporting, noise and vibration measurement, planning support, demolition and construction noise, environmental protection act.

Full Co-ordination BIM Modelling
The dedicated PPa BIM team can bring to bear a vast array of project experience including mission critical services, residential and infrastructure. We are able to provide support throughout the RIBA Stage 1-7 to the design team with our expert coordinators and technicians.
PPa recognise the benefits that BIM brings through better communication, collaboration and standardisation, this combined with the digitalisation of engineering and building design offers even greater benefits.
Our workflow is managed in line with our ISO 9001 and ISO19650 certification to ensure we provide our clients with a supportive and ongoing collaborative approach in the delivery of their project and consistently meet the quality standards they have come to expect.
Typically we utilise a cloud based CDE for worksharing internally and with the wider project team stakeholders. This ensures a stronger collaborative approach and means transactions can be executed in timely and transparent fashion.
From the 3D model we continue to extract traditional drawings suitable for scheme design through to installation drawings. By employing the power of parametric modelling, to the integration of smart technology into buildings, the opportunities are many and far reaching as we seek to develop our services and leverage the model to best serve our clients. This added functionality means we are also able to undertake analysis for tasks such as plant replacement strategy and can provide detailed clash detection and resolution reports.
